I posted a new story
yesterday based on the "Surprise, Snape's not dead he's living next door to your parents, Hermione!" sort of trope. Then I had somebody tell me they hadn't seen any other stories along those lines and she was looking for some recs.
I dug around (and was kind of appalled to find that I hadn't bookmarked any of them, even though I obviously liked them well enough to brew up a plot bunny of my own). I ended up recommending "Our Man in Havana
" by coffeeonthepatio
, and "Saturdays with Rosie
" by lena1987
. ("Saturdays with Rosie" doesn't technically count, since she didn't think he was dead, but I like that one.)
And now I'm looking for a story that I can remember perfect snatches of but not who it's by or what it's called.
It was mid-length, and it went into a lot of detail building up Snape's post-war world in this little neighborhood in Cornwall or something. He settled into a life that included his neighbors, and two of them just happen to be Hermione's parents. She ends up running into him at the Christmas church service, and he does some fast talking so her parents still think he's a Muggle. They began seeing each other, secret from her parents, but it's given away when she goes missing after they have a fight and he Apparates into their living room looking for her.
Ringing any bells??
